    Who we are

DapDap.ie ("dapdap", "we") is a local events discovery service based in Westport, Ireland. We help people find what's on around them and help organisers promote their events. For anything in this policy, contact us at andrew.dapdap@gmail.com.

    What we collect

Account details. When you create an account: your email address, name, and an optional profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from your Google account.

Content you post. Events you create, including titles, descriptions, images, prices, and venue details. Published events are public by design.

Personalisation data. If you choose to set them, your approximate location (the town or area you browse from) and your interests, used to personalise your feed and find events near you. We never collect precise GPS location in the background.

Usage data. How the app is used: pages visited, searches, taps, device and browser type, and crash reports. See the service providers below.

Payment data. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch dapdap's servers. We keep a record of what was paid for and the payment status.

    Service providers we use

We rely on a small set of providers to run dapdap. Each receives only what it needs:

    • Supabase: hosting, database, authentication, and file storage (EU region).
    • Stripe: payment processing.
    • PostHog: product analytics and error reporting, so we can understand how the app is used, improve it, and fix what breaks. PostHog may record anonymised sessions; private inputs are masked.
    • Google Analytics: product analytics that help us understand how the app is used.

    Why we use this data

    • To run the service: accounts, event listings, saved events, payments.
    • To personalise your feed based on the location and interests you choose to share.
    • To improve dapdap: understanding which features work and fixing what breaks.
    • To keep the platform safe: moderating listings and preventing abuse.

    Automatically discovered events

Some listings on dapdap are gathered automatically from publicly available sources on the web, such as venue pages and public social media posts. This only ever involves public event information (what, where, when), never private data. These listings are scored for accuracy and reviewed before publication. If an event about you or your venue is wrong, contact us and we will correct or remove it.

    Cookies and local storage

dapdap stores your sign-in session and your appearance preference (light or dark) in your browser's local storage. Our analytics providers set identifiers to recognise returning visitors. We do not run third party advertising cookies.

    How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists. Published events remain visible until they pass or are removed. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's standard retention and is not kept longer than needed. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed as described on the account deletion page.

    Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or to restrict or object to processing. Email andrew.dapdap@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can delete your account yourself at any time, see the instructions here. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

    Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
